It is crazy that we are now half way through our time in Ljubljana, Slovenia! Last week was a scorcher as a heat wave wrapped its warmth across Europe. Temperatures touched a bit above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Jessie and Britanny's biggest fans.
Arikia led a seminar on writing to a packed room of Remotes.
Hannah and Juri took the group through Rog, a locally organized art community and skate park created entirely of recycled materials.
On Tuesday we did a sLOVEnia tasting @ Poligon. A brief history of Slovenia / Yugoslavia and overview of innovation ecosystem from locals that experienced it, paired with local wine.
We welcomed Reid back from an extended hiatus with a surprise Men's Night birthday party boat cruise on the river.
After the boat cruise, we met the girls for some Karaoke as Trevor and Joe showed off their newly grown facial hair.
In the morning, Chris presented his new big idea (more details to come soon) to the group. Lots of chatter bubbling up and many collaborators are signing on to pitch in.
Geetika used her creative skills from R/GA as she conducted a one-day design workshop for a project about capturing memories with Ovos - a Vienna based design agency. She really enjoyed being able to work with a local company while on Remote Year.
The ABC Accelerator hosted a group of Remotes for a tour and meet n' greet. The ABC accelerator is doing great work connecting Slovenian entrepreneurs with mentorship and capital to help jumpstart the innovation in the country and region. Check out more here.
Kate and Paul came to Ljubljana to check out Remote Year. They are working on an awesome project called Inner Wanderlust, Bootstrapping 12 startups in 12 months in the name of giving back while traveling for the year. They have already been traveling for 6 months, started 6 companies and been to 16 different countries throughout Europe. Our favorite is Tea Witty, a subscription tea service.
A group of Remotes hit the road mid week to check out Budapest.
They found some great work spaces to get work done in Hungary before exploring the city.
A huge group of Remotes took a quick bus ride across the boarder into Italy to check out Venice.
Can you spot the Remotes?
Everybody headed back to Ljubljana to hike Kamniško Sedlo on Sunday. Some of our new friends from Poligon joined the hike and one of them, Silvja, made an amazing video of our day!
