Featured Experiences & Side Trips

Just a few of the experiences and adventures you can look forward to having on your program.
Forest Bathing

In Japan we have known for a long time that spending time in the forest and nature is beneficial to the body and soul. Spend a relaxing day visiting some of Kyoto's hidden temples, eating in a traditional countryside restaurant, and dip your feet into the footbath while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. By the end of the day, you are guaranteed to feel spiritually and mentally cleansed, a must after being in the city for so long.

Walking with Geisha

Discover the mystery behind the world famous Geisha with an exclusive private audience. Have you ever wondered what goes on behind closed doors? How they do their elaborate makeup, where they live, their daily routine, or what skills they have? You can ask all of these in a Q&A session, after which you will enjoy a tour of the local Geisha District and Shrine and experience a traditional Tea Ceremony.

Hike & Heal Pilgrimage

Witness the beautiful mountain scenery and temples as you hike from Kibune to Kurama. We’ll conclude the hike with a traditional meal and a healing bath at the best onsen in Kyoto. Japan is known as having the best hot springs in the world and this is the best place to experience a Japanese bath ritual that’s older than 1000 years. This outdoor spring surrounded by mountain forests is a perfect conclusion to a perfect day.
