Remote Year launches multiple programs throughout the year with varying start dates and itineraries. Our Program Consultants will work with you to find the program that fits best to your needs.
Excelsior starts March 2018: Lisbon, Split, Prague, Cape Town
Panta Rhei starts May 2018: Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Kyoto, Kuala Lumpur
We are continuously launching new itineraries throughout the year. If these dates are not a good fit for you, schedule a conversation with our Program Consultants.
The Four Month Program requires a $3,000 down payment followed by a monthly payment of $2,000 every month.
Our Four Month Programs bring together 35-55 inspiring professionals.
Yes. Community is one of the drivers of the Remote Year experience. You will live work and travel in a new city each month with the same community of traveling professionals.
Right now Remote Year is only offering four month and twelve month itineraries, however we are constantly evolving, so check back in with us for future offerings.
Remote Year brings together groups of inspiring professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and adventurers to see the world as they never have before during an unforgettable year of personal and professional growth. Participants (called “Remotes”) live and work in a different city around the globe each month. Learn about what remote year is.
While we don’t have a deadline for building a profile, we do have limited spots on our new Four Month Programs. If you are interested in confirming your spot on a program, schedule a call with a Program Consultant through your email.
Remote Year brings together inspiring professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and adventurers to see the world as they never have before during an unforgettable journey of personal and professional growth. Participants (called “Remotes”) live and work in a different city around the globe each month.
Remote Year participants are diverse in every aspect. From differences in age (currently, program members range in age from 22-65) to home country (there are currently 40 countries of origin represented on Remote Year programs), it is difficult to put Remote Year participants into a box. Some are full-time employees of an organization, while others own their own business or have freelance clientele. Some have traveled extensively before Remote Year, while others will be embarking on their first longterm journey.
That being said, there is a commonality between every Remote Year participant - they value community, have open minds and hold an appreciation for new perspectives.
Yes, you need to have a job in order to participate in Remote Year, though it doesn’t have to be a traditional 9-to-5 job. Remote Year participants have been full-time employees of a corporation, have been freelancers with their own client base and have even been entrepreneurs who have the ability to run their businesses from anywhere in the world. Think of it this way: Remote Year is a work and travel program, not just a travel program.
Unfortunately, Remote Year is not a job provider. Participants typically come to the work and travel program with a full-time position, freelance clients or their own business in hand, ready to take on the next step in their career while traveling the world.
However, if you currently have a job that you just don't know if you'll be able to take on the road, we can help. Remote Year can provide you with the guidance and resources that you need to help your employer become comfortable with a remote work arrangement. We've helped hundreds of employees working for Fortune 500 companies and startups alike transition from traditional in-office positions to remote jobs.
Remote Year is not currently equipped to accommodate children or pets, but we love couples! In fact, we offer a 20% discount on our monthly rates for couples that plan on living together on Remote Year. That means monthly program costs would be $1,600 per person per month rather than $2,000. To travel together as a couple, both members should submit profiles independently. If you are both matched to a program, indicate that you would like to be considered jointly in the corresponding field.
While you certainly don’t need to be fluent in English to join Remote Year, you should have basic English conversational skills.
At Remote Year, we believe great work can be done from anywhere.
We also believe that people are foundational to transformative travel experiences. Though members of the Remote Nation™ hail from every walk of life, its citizens tread some common ground: they are constantly striving to expand their professional, social, and cultural horizons, and they thrive while pushing the boundaries of their comfort zones.
Community is the glue that holds it all together. Working, living, and traveling in this unique way fosters irreplicable and indelible bonds. It’s not just the program’s community that proves powerful — Remote Year is a threshold to a larger, global community that irrevocably changes those who seek it out.
At Remote Year, we believe in championing human connection through cultural exchange. We’ve built a cohesive network of international staff — including City Teams who intimately understand the lay of the land — in order to deliver extraordinary experiences. This treasury of knowledge provides Remotes with built-in access to authenticity.
We believe in inclusivity. Since Remote Year’s launch in 2015, we have welcomed more than 1,000 Remotes to our programs. We currently operate in 18 cities, in 16 countries, and on five continents. As the first and largest organization to provide such an ambitious platform for remote professionals, Remote Year has established a formula for success. We’ve launched seventeen communities to date — and new programs are inaugurated almost every month. The iteration process is ongoing; we tailor each successive program based on community feedback.
As Remote Year grows and matures, we remain curious and committed to making the program the best it can be. Together, we believe we can build a Nation that transcends borders and creates a foundation for the dreamers of tomorrow.
Remote Year provides an unforgettable travel experience and all of the logistical planning to ensure smooth sailing along the way.
On Remote Year you’re not a local, but you’re also not a tourist. You're a Remote. You’re part of a vanguard — a unique type of traveler who balks at the concept of “working for the weekend.” You’re also part of a vibrant community of like-minded, culturally diverse, and curious professionals.
Our goal is to fill your year with opportunities for meaningful connections, growth moments, and deep immersion. There are a few ways we accomplish this:
No, Remote Year is not a job provider. All Remote Year participants are required to come to the program with a full-time position, freelance clients or their own business in hand, ready to take on the next step in their career while traveling the world.
However, if you currently have a job that you think could be done remotely, we may be able to help you with our Employer Approval Process.
Our communities vary in size, but always consist of passionate and interesting individuals. We offer many different Remote Year programs, and work with Remotes to find what fits them best based on interests, work schedules, timing, etc, so our community sizes range.
