Don't just take our word for it.
Here's what Remote Year alumni say about their experiences.
I'm due a huge shoutout to @remoteyear. I've spent the last few weeks going on adventure after adventure with this magnificent band of idiots, and that would not have been possible otherwise. Thanks! It was epic once again.

If you had told me exactly one year ago that I would not only be back on my feet and working out everyday, but that I would leave, what was at the time, my dream job and dream apartment and be living in Prague, I would never have believed it. Here's to one year from the day that I thought was the beginning of the end but turned out to be the beginning of the beginning. So grateful to @remoteyear and especially #remoteyearkaizen for pushing every limit I have and giving me the tools to be the happiest and healthiest I've ever been. 💪🏽

"Remote Year is the family I don’t see every Christmas, the family I don’t even somewhat resemble a little; the family that forces me to dance when I’d rather just stand by, the family that I laugh at, laugh with, and get laughed at by; the family that always needs a hug yet gives even more of them in return; the family that annoys the crap out of me but only slightly more than I annoy them; the family that has two moms, way too many children, and even more second cousins; the family that hurts when I hurt, cries when I cry, and laughs for no reason at all; the family without an address yet always able to be reached; the family that gives more than it ever takes, loves more than I ever deserve, and welcomes no matter how long I’ve been gone. Remote Year is my family and I will always be ready to come back home."

"If I went into it knowing what I would get out of (Remote Year), I would sign up for it five times over, ten times over! I would just do it for the rest of my life."

"Back in Jersey, I thought I was happy; I thought I was motivated. After just one week on Remote Year I thought, 'How the hell haven't I done this sooner? This is amazing.' I can't imagine going back to that life. I'm the happiest and most inspired I've ever been in my life."
"I thrive in this environment. I'm surrounded by brilliant people that push me. We have similar goals and ambitions — whether it's to see the world or grow our businesses — and it's nice to do them together. There is no age in Remote Year- just personalities."

"Standing in the middle of the street in Saigon, I thought to myself how much I’m going to miss what Remote Year has given me:
The laughter you normally get a few times a year when your stomach starts to cramp. The sense of community and belonging you never knew you needed. The times you work into the middle of the night wondering if you’re actually a crazy person. The sound of everyone’s voices you wish you could capture in a bottle to listen to later. A deeper understanding of the world around us, and the beautiful people that inhabit it.
As my year comes to a close, I know it’s time to say goodbye for now. My heart is broken, and filled to the brim at the same time. What comes next? Not quite sure, but I know the journey is going to teach me, surprise me, and inspire me. As I said before this all started, I truly cannot wait."
From her article Finding Connection Through Vulnerability
"It’s been 63 days since I finished Remote Year. The experience was — in a word — transformational.
Of the many takeaways that helped to define the shape of my next chapter, the most surprising for me was the need I’ve developed for community. My Remote Year experience slowly shifted my perspective. I was part of something incredible with 50 other adventurers. We were living a thousand lives in a mere 12 months, and we were leaning on each other throughout this epic and unifying journey."
"It breaks my heart to know Remote Year is over. I’m not upset by the end of travel. We all traveled before and we’ll continue to travel. What makes me sad is the end of traveling together. The end of travel days and welcome parties and farewell parties and community lunches and junctions. The end of a life-changing year, one that surpassed my highest expectations."
"The professional growth I’ve experienced while on Remote Year and working remotely would not have been possible at a typical 9-to-5 production job. I have significantly improved and widened my skill set from client management, pitching proposals and scoping contracts to research, copywriting and design."
"I didn't know that companies hired remotely until I came across Remote Year. My success in finding a role where I could work remotely was due to the network opportunities that Remote Year and the Remote Year participants provided."

"I get inspired by this group (Remote Year Darien) every day. You write like literary giants with insight well beyond your years, you capture beauty in the most unnoticeable of places, you know an insane amount about almost everything from the finer things about wine to constellations to axolotls and I can listen to you talk about them for hours.
You have smiles that can light up a room, you give to people of all walks of life in each city you go to, you speak with the confidence and charisma I can only dream of, and you build impressive things out of thin air."
"Sure, I could travel abroad by myself for cheaper than Remote Year, but the value of the friendships I have made in (Remote Year) Ikigai and the connections I have made through the Remote Year network at large enrich my experience in the moment, and will continue to do so for years to come. I wouldn’t have it any other way."
"I’m on Remote Year because I enjoy the way new cultures influence my personal style. I’m on Remote Year because the people I’m traveling with are some of the best I’ve ever known. I’m on Remote Year because complaining about packing every month is kind of fun.
I’m on Remote Year because I like seeing things I’ve never seen before. I’m on Remote Year because now I have friends all over the world. I’m on Remote Year because I like getting a little lost every day."
"While becoming a better designer was part of my reason for joining Remote Year, ultimately traveling offers so much more than any single reason one initially thinks of and it all comes down to one main thing: the people. (Remote Year) is a wily gang of people from all over the world, but despite our differences they are among the most open minded and good natured people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
It’s certainly a huge part of what makes Remote Year so fun and worth it relative to organizing your own travel around the world, which anyone in theory could do."
"I had already been working and traveling before either by myself or with a friend, however to know that there was a group that I could join, make friends with, network with, build business with, get inspired by, learn new skills from, all while traveling the world and enjoying it together with this very group, I personally don't think there is a better opportunity out there than this."

"I've always wanted to travel but I never felt that my lifestyle -- complete with work, financial responsibilities, and family obligations, etc. -- was conducive to it. This program allows me to travel with a steady paycheck in a community of like-minded professionals, and gives me peace of mind when it comes to planning out most of the logistics. I’m able to focus my brainpower on work and side travel, instead of worrying about the hundreds of details involved in living abroad."
"I truly enjoy meeting new people, and exploring new places, and I relished the idea of being able to do that for a year without having to plan and worry as much about the logistics of lodging and workspaces. Combined with the opportunity to travel with a group of interesting people of all ages and all walks of life, the opportunity to come on Remote Year was a no-brainer for me."

"When they say that they hand pick every single person and make sure they are not only right for Remote Year but they are right for that specific group is an understatement. The people I am spending my time with are curious, witty, genius, accepting and all around dope!"
