On this 4-month learning journey, you will dive into Latin American culture as you practice Spanish and discover both the highlights and the hidden gems of Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. Extend your Spanish knowledge beyond the classroom as you engage with locals and discover the unique words, phrases, and expressions that you’d only learn en las calles (on the streets).
Your Cruz Learn & Travel journey begins in Antigua, Guatemala. Framed by impressive volcanoes and majestic mountains, Antigua is home to beautifully preserved colonial architecture. Admire pastel facades as you dar un paseo (take a walk) along cobblestone streets, pop into a restaurant to sample boquitas (Guatemalan small plates), or slip out of the city to hike near Lake Atitlan.
Continue the adventure and discover ¿Qué onda? (what’s up) in Mexico City. Use Spanish skills as you search for the best tacos in town or train with a professional luchador on a private Lucha Libre experience. This cultural center will delight art enthusiasts, food lovers, and adventurers alike.
Next, you will travel to Medellin, Colombia, a bustling city with a colorful past, situated in the Aburrá Valley. Surrounded by lush mountains, spend your days sipping locally-grown aromatic coffee, discovering the city’s history through street art in Comuna 13, or chatting in Spanish at the home of our local guide Rafa before exploring the colorful lakeside town of Guatapé. You’ll find that this city is cheverísimo (very cool).
Your final destination is Lima, Peru, a coastal city and culinary hot spot that offers stunning panoramic cliffside views of the Pacific. Wander the city’s historic colonial streets, admire bohemian street art in Barranco, or sample fresh ceviche as you sip un par de chelas (a couple of beers) after an afternoon surf session at Punta Roquitas.
You will be staying in comfortable private bedrooms in a mix of 2-3 bedroom apartments or houses as well as hotels. In some destinations, you may even be staying in a private, one-bed hotel room.
All Remote Year accommodations are located in top neighborhoods that offer a mix of local and international flavors, and are always within walking distance from the workspace. You’ll love the great location, culturally rich atmosphere, and easy access to countless activities.
There may be options to upgrade to a private apartment after booking.
